Video is now free — and you don’t have to pick a size

TL;DR

Two things shipped this week:

  • Video generation is now on the free plan.Every account gets $5 in credits at signup and can generate full video ads. Free exports carry a small “Made With Polished” watermark; paid plans remove it.
  • You no longer pick a size before you generate.Drop in a brief, optionally check the formats you want (9:16, 1:1, 4:5, custom WxH), and we'll produce one finished ad per format from a single conversation.
  • Ad Translator. Separate from the agent: a free tool that localizes existing image or video ads while keeping layout, type, and composition intact — polished.ad/tools/ad-translator.

Video on the free plan

Until now, video generation was paid-only. That made the free tier feel like a sample of half the product — you could try image, but the thing people actually wanted to test (a real video ad from a prompt) was behind a wall.

So we moved it. As of today, every signup includes:

  • $5 in generation credits (about $1 = a typical ad).
  • Full access to video generation, on the same models paid plans use.
  • All ad formats — 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 — at platform-ready quality.

The only difference on free is a small “Made With Polished” watermark on exported videos. Any paid plan removes it. If you signed up before today, you already have access — we lifted everyone onto it.

One prompt, every format

The other change is more subtle but it's the one I'm most excited about.

Before: you had to declare “image or video” and pick a single aspect ratio before you started a session. If you wanted a Story and a feed square from the same idea, that was two sessions.

Now the composer looks like this:

A few things this unlocks:

  • Run a real placement test. Check 9:16, 1:1, and 4:5, and you get three ads from the same brief, designed for each canvas — not the same ad cropped three ways.
  • Let the agent pick.Leave “Any output” on and the agent decides whether your brief is better as a still or a video. (Hint formats if you have a preference; it'll respect them.)
  • Iterate without re-spec'ing. Add a format mid-conversation and the agent generates the new size in the same chat.

Ad Translator

The agent is for generating new work from a brief. A lot of teams already have winning creative in one market and need the same spot to read natively somewhere else — without rebuilding the layout in Figma or re-typesetting every line.

Ad Translator is a separate, free tool on the marketing site (polished.ad/tools/ad-translator). You upload a static image or a short video, choose one or more target languages, and we re-render the piece with idiomatic copy while preserving hierarchy, spacing, and the visual structure of the original. It's built for performance creative: fast iteration when you're testing new geos or duplicating a proven concept across accounts.

Use it alongside the agent — generate and iterate in Polished, then push the final asset through the translator when you need localized variants. Or start from a competitor swipe, a client file, or an old export you don't have layered anymore; the tool doesn't care how the ad was produced the first time.
